whatever you say "slingshot sally".........
so anyway, my "friend" found a pair of locked bucks a few years back and had NO idea at the time that he needed a salvage tag for them. they had been dead for quite a while to say the least. My "friend" can still smell them to this day, anyhow a good long while after this happened he found out that you are supposed to have a salvage tag for them however now he has them and can't decide what to do. My "friend" did nothing wrong but would like to get a tag, should he ask a cop? Should he just take them to the kdwp office and try to explain what happened and pray he doesn't get in trouble or should he keep his mouth shut and call it good? My "friend" has a chance to sell them and wants to save up for a new boat. He has plenty of pictures that clearly show they were locked together and had been dead a long time......this is just a hypothetical scenario....of course.......![]()
dukhntr is the police officer. he may be able to answer your question
thank you, just looking for some advise on what to do so I don't get in trouble!
i'd keep them and keep my mouth shut,, he need to talk to the fish and Game![]()
I have gone back and forth on what to do with them, but I have had them in the basement for several years and they are just setting around so It wouldn't hurt my feelings to sell them, if I can figure out how to get a tag and not get in trouble.

I Didn't know you needed a tag for Carcass's![]()
they give you a salvage tag for a road kill![]()
I beleive that the statue of limitations is 2 years,so you should be okay. Even though you did nothing illegal.![]()
you are supposed to contact a conservation officer before you remove the head off of any carcass. I have had a couple of conversations with a milford game warden on this subject. He has jumped mine and several other peoples chit about this issue. Its a common thing to find when a guy is out shed hunting. dead deer, modest rack, ate to nothing by coyotes, so you take the rack. well problem is the wardens go to a guys house and see 40 racks with hair on them knowing that 1 buck a year is all your allowed so something doesnt add up. Anyways I wouldn't worry a bit. With them being locked together its pretty clear you didnt do anything illegal except stumble upon them. What a find though. I would love to see pics, and i can put you in touch with some very serious bone collectors. If they are real nice you could fetch a very healthy price!
Jesse-C,
My dad found a similar thing probably 5 or so years ago out on the family farm...it is a 8 point and 10 point locked together solid...no way they would come apart unless you cut them. He always said they would be worth the some cash. Kind of curious what something like this would go for??
Jesse i've been in contact with the guy from Abilene if that is who you are talking about. I'm not sure what they are worth, but one is a 14 point and one is a 13 point and they are both somewhere between 150 to 170 or so. One has a ton of mass, the other has some points that are 14 inches long......good deer!! yeah, I know now that you aren't supposed to remove them.....I didn't at the time though.......
I found a nice one this year that died needless to say I'm not lossing any sleep about not having a carcass tag. I think its a bunch of bull having to get one for a dead animal. Just my opinion.
