    A few Canada Pics

Forgot my camera at the "motel" a couple of days, so not very many pics. Hunting was good for Canadas but the snows were a little uncooperative thanks to the weather mostly. Ended up with about 350 birds for the trip, so definitely a lot better than work.

One of the first fields we looked at where we were staying. Probably 75k+ snow geese in this field, my camera sucks.

This was from Monday. We chased snows for 2 days and were frustrated enough it was time to switch gears. 2 of us hunted this field right across from where we were staying and shot an easy limit of Canadas and some ducks while the other 2 guys did the same thing a few miles away. You can see our "motel" and bar in the background. They should be able to stay open another year...

This is Wednesday, the day the big front hit-it was pretty brutal out. Forgot my camera Tuesday, and naturally we had one of our better shoots with an easy limit of Canadas and several snows/ducks. Notice the motel in the background-same field as Monday. Birds wouldn't leave it alone.

For Thrusday we had a field with qutie a few cranes plus some Canadas so we decided to chase cranes. If you've never decoyed cranes before-I think the only thing that could make it better was if they caught on fire on the way down. Amazing birds. We also saw a group of about 10 Whooping Cranes all week, and no, we didn't shoot any of those.

And Friday we hunted about 1/2 mile from our motel again in the other direction. Only 2 of us (2 in our group were suffering from consumption issues ) plus a farmer's kid (in the pic) that has hunted with us all three times up there. Great family and I'm always amazed how nice the people are up there. This was a qucik limit of Canadas and a few snows before we got on the road home.

    Can't wait til next year.

At $40/case, wayyyy too many. Although we did get hooked on Wiser's, a smooth Canadian whisk that somehow we managed to pour out a half gallon every day...Good times but a guy sure starts to feel it after day 6 or 7...

Your just getting older Tim. When you hit oh, around 35 or so you will start feeling it in 3-4 days.

Nice pictures. A great way to start off the season.

Re: A few Canada Pics (TimS)

i have been to saskatchewan 4 times in the past 6 years .. waterfowl hunting at its best , lots of specs , snows , canada's and cranes .. crane hunting is easy in canada and the specs are not as decoy shy early in the season .. we have never been turned down from land owners and like you say , everyone is super friendly (other than the canadian mounties at the border ) .. beware of the chinese restaurants in saskatchewan after we leave , lol ..
btw : we have a hunting home in saskatchewan if your interested in buying a place in canada ..
