So I had to attend a coaching clinic for work in Palm Springs this week. I found a flight on American that took off out of Manhattan. It would knock 4hrs of commuting off my trip since I wouldn't have to drive to KC and save me $100.
Well my flight in Manhattan was delayed 2hrs for "equipment change" AKA brokedown plane. Then I got to Dallas and we were delayed for 5hrs because the stewardess' WALKED OUT OF THE AIRPORT prior to our flight. They had to assemble new crew and each time we were told we were ready to go we found another crew member had left the building. Personally if I directly disobey my boss and don't show up to work I fully expect a pink slip in the morning but apparently at American Airlines apparently it is acceptable
Fast forward to 2am when we landed in palm springs (originally I was to be there at 6pm). No rental car offices are open and my hotel is only 10 miles and a $70 taxi ride away. My rental car for the entire weekend was $75 if I would have made it into town prior to midnight.
Show went well and I got up early and checked in for my flights and was told they were on time. Show up to the airport for my 7am flight and find out it is delayed until 10. It turns out the only flight of my trip that is on time is the one from Dallas to Manhattan. Unfortunately I won't be on it thanks to this delay I will be stuck in Dallas for 12 to 24 hours.
When I arrived I went to the ticket counter to vent a little frustration and the only response I get is "sorry for the delay we hope to take off in a few hours once the crew gets their required 12hrs of rest, thanks for choosing American Airlines. We hope you will fly with us again". WTF??? Are they serious???![]()

The trip wasn't all bad though. The highlight of my trip was a 750ml bottle of Gentleman Jack I picked up at a drug store for $15 on clearance that I enjoyed (in entirety last night) after an awesome, but over priced, prime rib dinner.
