Help for Texan going fishing in Kansas!

    Hi Guys,
I'm going to leave my great fishing down here in South Texas (Falcon, Mexico, etc.) and head for the great state of Kansas on May 1,and I will stay until the 11th. We are visiting my wife's relatives up there in NE Ks.

I have been invited to fish a couple of places with my good friend/Winter Texan Wally P. (some of you must know him! He is 86 years old, goes fishing in Mexico a couple of times a year, and still fishes tournaments) He said we would go to Lyons State Fishing lake (I've been there) and probably Wilson Lake (there too). I will actually be closer to Milford, however.

What lures/techniques would you recommend for me to take up there? Are the bass about to spawn? We will be bass fishing in his boat. (We're catch and release guys.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    the "Lucky" Al

Wally's in my bass club and a great guy. Both the lakes Lyon county and wilson should be a great time for you. Wally will put you on fish at both places. That old man can still flat catch fish! Have fun! Greg

Lures: Lyon con. Texas rigged anything
Wilson: Small jigs and crankbait.. for the small mouth.

Thanks for the offer and information. Wally will be picking the lakes, but I will mention Coffey Lake. Any more suggestions on what tactics and lures would be appreciated, especially I usually am fishing for LMB down here. I heard the water was 47*, is it still that cold?

And would the bass be moving up or is it still pre-pre spawn? Down here we are going into the summer pattern already, and the spawn is 99% over. Right now the main problem is the 30-40 mph wind!

    Thanks again,
Al from the bottom of Texas!

Water in NW Missouri was 55 to 60 degrees -- the big fish were starting to move up, a few had bloody tails,, but with all the wind i couldn't see any beds
