    Turkey

    Turkey 1 Me 0

A big thanks to my buddy Bob J (FSH4EVR) who took me out to his hunting property this morning for a morning turkey hunt.

Bob had a perfect set up, decoys out and a gobbler on the roost. Bob had him gobbling for an hour and then he just stopped, we waited and waited and called a little and nothing. We figured he moved out and went the other direction. We picked up and moved down into the wood lot that apparently the turkey was moving up. We hadn't set 5 minutes and he was gobbling right in the field we just left (insert patience icon here) Well Bob being the expert caller that he is got that bird to come back into the woods within 20 yards. Problem is we didn't have a good set up, lots of brush and leaning logs and limbs, but I could see him coming, a big beautiful bird. Bob was standing and I was sitting so my view and his were quite different, Bob was urging me to shoot and I couldn't see an open shot. I finally saw his head and tried to sneak a shot in and surely killed a tree. Although I failed to seal the deal it was the best turkey hunt I have ever had. Thanks for the memory Bob

I love spring gobblers, but fishing always seems to take precedence

That's fun... those big bastards always seem to be in the right place (to stay alive).

Bob - watch out or you'll be taking off fishing for a month for the turkeys!

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Bob the best part is that you can hunt for turkeys in the morning and fish all after noon. Then roost the birds for the next morning. MAN I LOVE THE SPRING!!!!
