    truck wreck

Well the truck was still there when I got home tonight. Went and talked to the insurance adjuster. He said the guy went to sleep and just lost it. I said maybe he went to sleep because of the beer that I found in a trash can and box in the trees. Had two left out of a twelve pack with 8 empty cans in the trash can. He did not say much just took some pics of the beer. My house is around 100 yards off the highway, with a good size ditch. I don't think a vehicle could make it all the way, but it makes a guy think. Wish I had taken some pics. They finally took the truck away at 5:20. That is going to be one heck of a tow bill. Wrecker on scene from 3:30 to 5:20. For awhile there were two but I have no idea how long the second one stayed. Oh well, gave me something to talk about.

Didn't see any ambulances. Driver had to feel good enough to walk 50' and stash the beer.

    Re: truck wreck (catchatoad)

Nothing truck drivers do surprises me anymore. I ran a small trucking company for about a year and it never ceased to amaze me what went on...

Had the highway patrol watch one of my dirvers buy a 30-pack at a truckstop, get back in, and drive on. They followed him for a bit before they finally pulled him over and he had already drank several beers. Fired him on the spot, sent someone down to get him and the truck.

Had another guy that had just left Topeka on his first run, he took his cash advance and bought some drugs and disappeared. Left the truck running a truckstop just outside of town and disappeared. I eventually reported it stolen when we couldn't reach the guy and that's when the HiPo found it.

Met a driver in Topeka one night to give him his paycheck. He told me straight to my face his old lady's drug dealer was waiting for him on the other side of the parking lot. They owed him a bunch of money and were told they had to pay it off that night...

I have many more, that's just a few highlights...never again will I have anything to do with the trucking business.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
