    Reed question

Still checking out my 260. Someone told me I might be having reed problems. I opened the butterfly and looked at the reeds. They had fuel/oil mixture on the outside. I put a rag on a piece of wire and shoved it down in the intake and it came out with furl on it. I also noticed once after I got home from running it, there was a small amount of fuel on the inside of the horn. With the injectors on the inside of the reeds, should I have fuel on the outside??? It doesn't look right to me. And that is probably what is plugging up the vacuum advance nipple.

    Re: Reed question (BARRY J)

Barry,a small amount of reflux is normal, but reeds do wear out,and sometimes warp or chip. This causes more reflux than normal, which can result in a progressively richer idle, loading up,poor performance, and oil il the sensor hose and nipple.Go to our website and read the reed valve page for a more comprehensive description. We have great performing, long lasting reeds, available for your motor, satisfaction guaranteed,Chris

Re: Reed question (Chris Carson's Marine)

    Barry,
260's have a vaccume system that pull fuel/oil mix through the middle main bearing into the plenium, that oil MUST be present OR the middle mains will seeze...Oil at that location does NOT mean your reeds are leaking...

BTW: I use nothing but TDR reeds in my race to recreational motors..IMO there not a reed on the market that will comp[ete in our high reving motors..

Most will agree that race engines ARE the ultimate test bed to test a products durability. These have been bullet proof for my customers for 10 + years ..

    Thanks.
