"Over 1,400 children were killed by cars, almost 260 of those deaths were young pedestrians. Bicycle and space heater accidents take many times more children’s lives than guns. Over 90 drowned in bathtubs. The most recent yearly data available indicates that over 30 children under age 5 drowned in five-gallon plastic water buckets"

Wonder when: Bath Tubs, and five-gallon buckets will be restricted.

My wife said she read in a parenting mag that you should now ask parents of your kids friends the same thing, if you are sending them to there house. I would tell them it none of there business what I do or do not own.

Re: Interesting Gun Related Article (tbowe91)

I was raised around guns. My dad kept a loaded pistol in his drawer and both my brother and I knew about it. He taught (ingrained) that guns are not toys that they are tools. Showed us the proper way to handle and shoot them. Not one accident - I don't know of any gun that has ever grown legs and walked out and shot someone.

I believe more kids were hurt last year from falling out of shopping carts. I better write my politician and demand a law be enacted to protect our kids from shopping carts.

Re: Interesting Gun Related Article (Tagg007)

I get so sick and tired of people giving excuses why kids are idiots. Instead of nutting up and taking the blame they are giving endless reasons why it is someone else's fault. I grew up on a farm and have hunted with my dad since I could walk. He never had to lock up his guns and never had to worry about my brother or I getting into them. Alot of the stories you hear sound like they were from families where the father himself didn't respect guns let alone teach his children to respect them. That is where the blame lies, idiot kids raised by idiot parents.

Now, if we only could get the general public and politicains to see that. I have always believed, if you teach your kids the correct way to handle guns and you follow it too, there should be no accidents.
