I've had the Paulaner oktoberfest. Have you ever had Bigfoot Barleywine by Sierra Nevada? Honestly I am not a big fan of lager whether it be double bocks or regular lagers. I like ales, which includes stouts and porters. I like my beer hoppy not malty. The german lagers and double bocks are the best for that type though. I just have to be in the mood for one.

Yes......Sierra makes some ncie Micros as well but I'm not much of a Micro guy myself![]()
As far as "types" of beers.......I will agree with that. I will still have an occational Lager.................Between a Marzen and a Porter......I'll take a Porter ANYTIME. I still prefer ambers or Darks over Lighter colors beers because of there Heavy Hopps. German Lagers themselves have a tendency to be very rich in flavor....sometimes too rich in some lines.
Hacker-Pschorr makes some nice ones as well![]()

I like the Micro brews, but I would hardly call Sierra Nevada or Samuel Adams micros. I know they are classified as micros by the amount of beer they brew, but SN and the Boston Brewing company have to brew a chitload. It's everywhere. IMO you can find beer brewed here in the U.S. that is every bit as good or better than British or German beer. Rogue is one of the best. If you like dark ales try a Rogue Shakespear Stout. Nothing better!
Yeah......cant say I think Sam Adams or Sierra as a MIcro either.....all I know is that ssome fo these places dont seem to let it ferment it much..............goose Island (chigago Brewer) is famous for that......they have one that is called Christmas Ale......if you drink it righ away it's ok but on the package (if I remember) says to store the beer in cool dark place for 3-5 years to allow FULL flavor to come out......that is what some of these places are doig with them.....I like Sam Adams in certain lines as well as Lukey's beer too.
Never tried Rogue though.....might have to look around for it and try it.......I know some of them Texans like the Shiner's and Shiner Bock.....tried them......they can keep-em![]()

I remember the Firehouse Steak House in Rapid City S.D. has there own brewery........they had a few "Heavily Bodied" beers there.....one was names Indian Ale that was pretty damn good going with my 16oz Buffalo Ribeye dinner![]()
Rogue has some good stuff. I like the Dead Guy Ale. I am not much for imported beer because by the time it gets here who knows how many times it has been heated and cooled in transport. I would rather frequent the little guys around here. Right now my dad got me hooked on an IPA kick that is hard to shake when I keep finding new ones to try everywhere I look. I also try to drink as much of the Little Apple brews as possible. John is a genius at brewing. He had a Maibach (sp) at the beginning of the summer that he called the velvet hammer because it went down smooth and then when you went to stand up you were slammed to the ground. I am happy to say I drank 9 pints in 3 hrs and lived![]()
I liked Little Apples beer. Kind of hit and miss from time to time, but overall very good IMO.
Chris have you had any of the Tallgrass brews around town?
i like my Beer in a bottle and Ice cold![]()

Nope I haven't. They any good?
Haven't tried them yet, but have heard a lot of good things. Talked to a guy yesterday whose son is the brewmaster, but I think his opinion might have been a little biased.![]()
Hmm. I guess I ought to check it out and see.![]()
