    GPS Units

Let's hear your thoughts on what you have and what you like/dislike. I have X100c's now and I need to upgrade to a GPS unit at the console before next year. Thoughts??

    Re: GPS Units (TimS)

John (stein) just got a 520C(or 522) this summer if I remember correctly.......got to play with it on Milford last week in August.......had the HD Navonics card for Milford too......very very nice feature too!

I think it was going to take a little getting used to between toggling between screens and setting but other than that I liked it.

I came close to getting a Humminbird 383c (smaller unit) but didnt have the extra $ to drop for it very good as well IMO.......I think the 787c2 is as comparable to the 520 series from Lowrance......around same price and feature......never played with one though

    Re: GPS Units (tritonryan)

I was real close to buying a Humminbird 787 c2 before we lucked into getting a loaner boat for our last college T. The specific one I was leaning towards getting was their "NVB Combo" which came preloaded with Navionics Gold and Hot Spots maps for the entire country. This is the place I was looking to get it, heck of a deal:

I got to play with the 520c on my 10 day trip to Canada and am liking it more and more. Price is right at $600 from Three Rivers Marine. Plus, if you want to add a second unit later, you can network the GPS and only buy the head unit for $400. You will need two map cards if you want upgraded maps at both units, though.

Tim - I can get you a deal on a Hummingbird unit if you want one of those. Just figure out which one.

just my .02 but I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 7" screen that way you can run split screen w/gps and not squint to see it...

I think I would have to be looking at a side imaging unit real hard. I can see one in my near future sitting right beside my 480.

I have the 522 & X17. Like the color screen on the 522. I am hooking up a power cable to the truck so I can use it on trips. I hear a lot of good things about the Hummingbirds too.
