    1995 Johnson Faststrike leaking gas

My boat has been setting up all winter here in alabama. I went to pump up the bulb the other day to get her cranked and gas oil mix started leaking out of the top right carb bowl. I pumped it up again and noticed that it is coming out from around the bowl gasket. I was just wondering if the float could be stuck or if the gasket is bad/loose screws? I tried to tighten the bowl screws but you cant get to the d*** things. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Its coming out of the bowl where it seals to the bottom of the carb. In between the gasket.

Bowls are warped and need to be replaced. Do them all. Replace the gaskets too.

Dang. That doesnt sounds cheap. What causes them to warp? Getting hot?

Ethanol, and incorrect torquing specs and patterns when they are rebuilt.

Any recommendations on where to buy? And possibly some part numbers for them? The motor model is J175GLEOM. I really appreciate your help.

feel your pain brother, I just had carbs rebuilt on '94 90. The original bowls were plastic and warped. The new replacements were around 80$ each on web ($120 at marina) and are aluminum. Total deal close to $600 at $95 hour x 3 + parts and shop supplies. It is now starting and idling better than ever.

If it is running good and you got a manual and tools it might not be too bad a job to just replace bowls and gasket yourself. The manual I got on disk on ebay pretty cheap and have replaced VRO and changed out waterpump with it as guidance.

GOOGLE Johnson parts you will find sites with full schematic break down with part numbers and price.

All the gaskets listed above plus new float needle and seat plus other gaskets. No float or bowl.

ok. Ill probably just stick with replacing the bowls and gaskets you mentioned above. Is this a hard job to do? Any tricks or things i should know before diving into it?

Not that hard just do one carb at a time so you don't dislodge the intake manifold and gaskets. When I install the carb back on I put a light bead of BRP triple guard grease on the back side to hold the seal in place.

similar problem here, I have one carb that is not leaking yet, but starting to seep a little bit. If you are not rebuilding the carbs, just doing the bowls, do you also need the nozzle well gasket or can you reuse that one? Thanks

Well I got all of the bowls and gaskets replaced this afternoon. I havent seen a leak yet so that must have been the problem. Thanks champioNman for all of your help.
