    Weekend turkey adventures

Had some guys come over to turkey hunt this last weekend. You know the type have their 10 gauges, with fancy choke, and super expensive shells. Well the weekend really went pretty well and we all had a good time. The funny thing is is that on the first morning both of them missed toms within half a mile of each other an hour apart. Of course, you know thats the first time they've ever missed. So we go the whole first day with a blank. The second morning they guy I'm with shoots a nice bird and the guy my buddy was with missed again in the same 1/4 section 200 yards from the last morning. Well make a long story short we get back after them and he shoots a jake and a stud tom in the same shot at 15 yards. Completely tore the jake apart. So they headed home hitting 2 of 8 from the field on toms while in Kansas. Heres a couple of pics of their birds.

Bird on the left was 10" and 1 1/8 spurs. Bird on the right was 11" and 1 3/8 spurs. Didnt weight the birds but both were over 20 for sure with the big bird being real plump.

Heres a pic of hanging ther big bird by his spurs.

Them are some good pics. I saw 3 big ole' toms strutting in JC in a small field near grant avenue yesterday morning. I hit my siren for a minute, and all they did was gobble...
