    Lower unit fill/drain screws

Have a 1991 Evinrude 150 Gleis. The fluid level screw will not loosen. It has a slotted head and Im afraid of stripping it out. Any suggestions? I bought new screws, so i just want it out. I have tried a stubby sd with vise grips even. still wont budge.

Large screwdriver that fills the entire slot and you can get a wrench on works best.

Replace them with allen wrench screw heads and you won't have the problem again.

Make sure your allen is an exact fit and no slop, don't paint them nor over torque.

The 4mm allen is a tight fit, but helps from rounding out the heads on the allen heads... A tip I got from SeaHorse...
