Why not just fix the issue at the control box?
bypass neutral....
goodway to go for a swim get chewed up by the prop or watch the boat drive away with the kids in it![]()
its a tiller handle motor and it has a jet pump on it.there is no control box or prop.thats why i feel ok about bypassing it if possible.no element of danger here.the boat dosnt start to move until about quarter throttle when the pump develops enough thrust to start moving the boat.

See that is why we ask for a model number!!![]()
well i didnt bother to put the model number on it because it wouldnt have indicated much since the engine originally had a gear case on it and was a remote motor converted to a tiller.any idea?

The gear case wouldn't matter but letting us know it was a tiller model would help. I was thinking it was a remote control and not a tiller handle.
I WOULD STILL ADJUST THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH before jumpering around it.

A neutral start switch on a motor like yours is a Federal requirement - a safety issue which could cause injury, property damage, or even death if disabled - so no one would recommend disconnecting one.

my neibour disconnected the saftety switch under the seat of his lawn tractor to prevent shutdowns when he got out of his seat.
heard him yelling for help one day when he was dragged under his patio deck
by his lawn tractor who would not shut down when he tried jumping off of it after a dumb manouver to cut the grass perpendicular to his patio deck.
almost broke his neck and jawbone
do not mess with safety switches![]()
look at the nuetral safety switch.its right behind the shift linkage on the right side of motor.check and see if it is loose check screws holding it on.we were hunting and my buddies would crank and not start.switch was loose and almost off we fastened it back after trouble shooting and was good to go it may be worth a look.his is a 50 etec tiller.
