Detroit River this past weekend - this was downtown Detroit
This was kind of the industrial section of the river before downtown Detroit

Is that the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame building? I was thinking I saw Ike fishing around that same building on City Limits fishing once.
@ Scott, I'm not sure really, I know Cesar's in Canada was directly across from it. Between the giant seabound freight carrying ships with anchors the size of a full size trucks and the overall sketchiness of the place I was just doing my best not to get killedI just know it was Detroit. I tried to enter a small harbor right there in that pic and got kicked out because fishing wasn't allowed
. Weren't any signs!
You wave... they stare. You talk, they sit in silence. You open your mouth and hear, "you guys aren't from around here eh?"
Nice yankee friendness uh, how much did that small moth weigh? U didn't run into Brandon Hunter or Tim Griggs did you, Brandon said he was catching them pretty good.

Note the dialect....that would be Canadian.![]()
But yeah, they're not real friendly in Detroit from what I've seen.
Nice fish, BTW!![]()

We really didn't run into a lot of bass fisherman at all other than the motel. I'd say mainly b/c we didn't venture out onto either of the lakes. The smallie was around 4 I'd guess, choked a yamamoto shad shape worm on a dropshot. 7.5 mph current made that a heck of a fight!
Did you get into the smallies, or was it a tough trip? I want to get over to St. Clair one of these days, and maybe venture into the river.

We didn't kill them by any means but we did pretty good. We we're pretty limited not having a Canadian license, not fishing either lake, and having one of the better areas blocked off for a race. We did pretty good though. The smallies we caught were off of some of the current breaking points and ANY barge tie up you could find. Or, simply any place you could find a hard bottom and rock.
The largemouth bite was good around main river grass lines where you could find an eddie and some of the backwaters around pads.
I really wanted to spend a day around the mouth of St. Clair but couldn't due to the race blocking off the channel navigating to it. Could've went around I guess but I would've been in Canadian waters and some of the customs guys we spoke to weren't too friendly.![]()

Sounds like a good trip then overall!

I haven't met any that are friendly. You would have technically been okay to navigate in CN waters, but they could probably stop you and say you were fishing. They can and do unfair stuff like that. I tend to avoid crossing the border at all in my boat.
