Thanks.

Thanks guy's...gotta say those were the worst fishing conditions I have ever experienced in my life...a long trp south in 30 mph winds out of the north is very bad..my boater absolutly destoyed his boat trying to get us back..actually broke the whole dash, steering and all loose from the console..with that,,the next warm spell we have get on the water...the lakes are about to be on fire. The water is stained pretty good so the jerkbait bite is not as good as it has been in the past..I never even tied one on..everything we caught was on crankbaits and rattletraps..bright colors..and secondary lead in points..pea gravel..also any flats with ditches..the fish are there..just hard to get them to bite yesterday...Scott sorry I didnt talk longer..I was frozen and in pain

it was a rough day. my boater hit a wave one time and i thought we were going down. it took us a while to get the water to pump out before we could even take off againi did however get 7th. i had a 6 lber. we caught alot of fish but man was it miserable.
Congratulations guys...Glad it was you all that way out there and not me....north wind and current does not mix on Ky Lake for sure.
I wish my boat had been fixed and I could have gone as a boater.
......a day of frustration was what I was given. Spent 95% of the day on Barkley in chocolate milk fishing backs of bays chasing 14" fish. My boater managed to go through enough small ones to get some 15" squeakers...only one keeper for me. His largest came off a mainlake point early, but decided for some reason upon catching it that there wasn't any good reason to stay on the mainlake points...![]()
With about an hour left, I was able to get him to finally let me fish a few mainlake points on the clearer waters of KY...but even then he didn't want to be in the wind so we never did get on them right, more off to the sides than casting onto them. I hooked up on one that could have easily been over 5, he jumped and threw my jerkbait...just salt in an open wound. All in all we hit 3 good mainlake points all day. I'm still convinced that windblown mainlake points are what's hot right now, with a jerkbait. The harder the wind is blowing on it, the more stirred up the phytoplankton are, and the greater the presence of shad and bass.
Conditions were right, and they were where they should have been...just couldn't get to them...All part of the gamble by going as a non-boater.
My boater was nice, and could drive a boat very well. Towards the end there were some good rollers out there, and he drove that Hyda-Sport like a pro. Nice guy, very upbeat, but I just didn't understand his logic.![]()

I could tell you had been beaten like a red-headed stepchild. I was wet and cold myself and ready to get out of there. That hot shower when I got home was probably the highlight of my day.
Crankbaits were working well in the bays, but man the water was perfect on north KY for a jerkbait bite.

I would have gladly been in that boat!![]()
Those waves crashing on the banks had them fish going nuts!
we caught most of our fish in the back of bays. except the one pig my boater caught. i would say it would have went colse to 7.
Those lakes scare me to death... How can you feel confident you will make it back alive if your boater doesn't really know what they are doing?? Remember eating at the buffet at the Pelican restauraunt and the room was still rocking.
By the way I fished the Red Man as a non-boater years ago and swore on my grave if I make it back alive several times I am never going to do it again.
