Repair work on KY or Barkley Dam

I had a friend come back from the lake area last week and he said he was told by some locals that there was some dam repair work to be done on one of the dams and that the lakes were to be dropped to 10 ft below winter pool for those repairs. I can't find anything on any of the lake websites or Corp sites about any dam work on Barkley or KY. He also said the lake levels would be maintained at 10ft below winter pool for six months or more. Has anyone heard this or have any info about it? Six months at those levels will be a big loss for that area.

I hear rumors all the time about something like that but i think all it is rumors. That would be a major big time thing to do especiially this time of the year, that would leave dock owners, state parks, most all boat ramps dry. We have TVA and Coast Guard guys in the shop all the time and i have never heard any one of them say something like that.

That's what I thought to Rodney. I think someone was just creating a rumor. That would be devastating to all the big T's.

Like Rodney...I have heard this rumor for many years, ever since they started work on the new locks....every spring the same rumor....like Rodney said, if this were true it would be big time news here and so far there has been no such announcement.

Last Spring the lake got so high you could see under it...they should have done the work then!!

the only thing i have heard is they will be replacing the turbines at Barkley and are suppose to close the tailwater from the blue highway bridge to barkley dam.

I thought that had been pushed back until 2012 tho....

U would have to see over it to get that done

We have heard several RUMORS but nothing for sure
