    KY Lake Vacation, First Trip

Guys, Considering a vacation (2 weeks) on KY lake. Trip would be for me and my spouse. Looking at the first two weeks of May. Would like to try for Bass and Crappie's. I have never fished KY Lake and would like your thoughts on this time of year and places to stay.

http://www.kentuckylake.com/ You might try this link. As stated moors is nice. I have mostly stayed on Barkley. Buzzard Rock and Greenturtle Bay. They are both a short boat ride to Ky Lake. And Buzzard Rock has a Bar with bands on the weekend. Also might check Popular Creek Inn. Reasonable and nice for a motel rooom. And she used to give a 10% discount card for the Cabin Bait and Tackle. Don't know if she still does.

Check out VRBO.com or google kentuck lake rental homes. I was just on today and checked out Barkley too. There are some great deals there that also include a private dock. Thats how I like to go to the lake when my friends homes are all booked. Moors is awesome too, its just nice to have a private home to yourself with a dock. Some are expensive there, and others are no more than a week at the least expensive place you can find. It is hard to stay at the wrong place, the fishing is great all over both the lakes. You need to hit Pattys for the pork chops (located in Grand Rivers). Enjoy, we always do......

First two weeks of May should be dandy bass fishing. Crappie might be hard to track down depending on how the spring goes.

Bass would be far easier than crappie at that time of the year. Rig up a split shot rig and a Zoom fish doctor and cast in and around the yellow flowers and or buckbrush. Should catch 100+ per day...but may only have about 5 or 6 keepers though. Finding the big fish that time of year is a little difficult, especially when you have about 5 or 6 patterns producing fish.

Hopefully there's no flood this year!
