I am not getting a reading on my water pressure guage but the pee stream appears to be strong. The "hot"alarm went off while on plane but would stop when I came off pad. Any suggestion on what to check would be greatly appreciated. The water pump is two years old.
Had a lot of problem with my water pump for one summer. It would overheat while idling around. Seams like the water pump has to be perfect. They replaced it twice before quit. They may have just did the impeller the first time. I was showing pressure, but apparently not enough.

the factory publishes a chart of water pressures at different rpms. The most important is that it is 3-5 psi at idle, preferably closer to 5.

High speed overheats often are from a clogged or restricted pressure relief valve, worn pump, or aerated water flow into the gearcase from transducers, thru-hull fittings, etc. mounted too close to the engine.

Just in case this is ever researched.
Problem solved: Removed cowling and noticed the tubing had backed off, reconnected and all is well.
