Blew up super flow flow today

Runnin a 27" SRX at 6800, still had a lot to go and it wasn't even trimmed out yet. GPS 83.6. After I let off from this run and eased it down to around 5000 it let go.

Starboard side bottom piston has a hole clean through it. Still turns over easily by hand so it might just need a hone and a new piston. All the others are fine, EGT's were around 1000 and water pressure was at 15 PSI

It could have been a couple of things but I think it was that I was running 93 octane with an octane booster. I should have had at least 25% Av gas in it but I just haven't had time to get to the airport this week and I REALLY WANTED TO GO BOATING so I have only myself to blame. I will not do that again. Good news is that I still have the looper to put on it Bad news is that it hasn't been painted yet and is butt dog ugly!

We have some photos of this run and you can see that the boat was still very wet, I am sure it will run near 100 once it is fixed and set up. I'll try to get them posted.

I put this on the Bullet forums too.

Rusty, it was that dreaded mid-range lean. I didn't expect that on a crossflow but it does happen.

Mike, I am going to be working my butt off the next couple of months so this might be a blessing in disgiuse, if I can't use it I won't be tempted to go out when I have other things I have to get done.

Bruce Leonard is going to put the looper on it in a couple of weeks and pull the flow apart and see for sure how bad it is. I probably won't have it back for a month or so. I'm going to stay sane by posting on here every night!!!

Well I hate that for you man as she sure looked good! I'm kinda glad I didn't get a ride when I was down there or I sure would have gotten FULL credit for it when it let go ! CM

CM I think you jinxed it by not going for a ride and it is all your fault that it blew.

Hey Rusty, can I change that free warranty you gave me on the looper over to the crossflow?

See what happens when you don't run the Caloosahatchee! The heck with the Manatee zones Awesome Bullet wasn't there . Da looper won't be as fast but will hold together a little longer, maybe at least until my next southern swing. CM

Here's a few shots of Shawn on the water, I got to try out a new 300mm lens, it really pulls the shot in. Too bad I didn't have much time to use it :D Definite low octane detonation, no question about it.

Well Bruce I see the Immediate problem and it is obvious to me, Shawn's motor is white and he also has LA #'s on it! ! He lives in Cape Coral so he needs FL registraition #'s and the white motor don't match the hull! Definate NO NO's in south FL ! CM
