Porter Co. IN - possible overnighter - any decent bank fishing in area?

Might be up there for an over night stay - will have the evening to do some bank fishing. Just wondering if there's any hot spot or something really fun to check out.

I grew up in Valpo and I really can't remember any place up there worth fishing. Sorry I couldn't help.

Luckily I didn't have to stay overnight, but did get to drive by the great lake via Michigan City. It looked HUGE! Saw some guys bank fishing a canal near Washington Park, didn't look real promising. Pretty neat place. Might make a weekend getaway up there some time - sandy beaches and clear open water looks like fun.

Let me know if you plan to go up to the Michigan City area and what time of year. I can give you a few tips maybe. I salmon fished out of Washington Park marina and or Trail Creek marina, for about 10 years. That canal you're talking about is Trail Creek. It has some major salmon/steelheads in it depending on the time of year. There are a few places to bank fish there. Just hang on if you try it!!

Give me a shout next time you are in the area... I'll see what I can do.
