    New Graph

If ya'll had around $700-$800 give or take to buy a new graph w/gps for the console what would you go with? I'm leaning towards a color graph as well.

I need a new one and will have about that in a month or so....

If you want the newest I would get a Lowrance HDS unit. You could get a hds5 in that price range, maybe a 7(what I want) for a little more. They are compatible with Structure Scan upgrade (avail in nov 09) which is just like the Hbird SI except with downscan right below the boat. It is and extra 400+ but I definitely want one for our deep water. I have a Lowrance LMS 527cDFigps and love it. It was the last unit right before the HDS came out. You could get two of them cheap prob off e-bay. I can watch a 1/4 jig and put it right in front of sauger and watch the fish take the jig. The Lowrance is easy for me to learn to and the igps means there is no puck needed for the gps. There is nothing wrong with a used Hbird SI unit either. This is just my 02. Whatever you get hope your happy with it. Learning to use one good makes finding fish a lot easier.

I love the LMS520c. When I purchased it 2 years ago they were $699. I think you can get them around $450 now. I would try and get one with an internal gps. The HDS are nice. Personally I would wait a few years and let then price on those come down as well. I have a freind who works at Gander MTN. They are still having alot of bugs with the unit and alot of returns with the HDS. I have a freind who has a HDS 7 on the bow. It is really nice, however I wish they could have left the button layout the way it has always been. Takes some getting used to.

    Re: New Graph (bassman502)

I totally agree bassman. I would love to have a bigger screen for the bigger lakes. The reason I went small at the time was it was a direct fit replacement for what was in the dash. Now that triton has re-designed there dash it is not a problem.

Man, I'd look at the last set of 7" lowerance units (27's or 28). The 520 is good but small. To tell you the truth I'd shy away from the new HD units. Yeah some guys are having good luck with them but most aren't. I will give these units and the SI another year before I think about investing in them. You can get a nice color GPS 7" lowerance unit in that price range.

I have 2 of the 28cs and they have been good except one was sent back to Lowrance last Wed and they already don't repair them.

Matt, go ahead and spend the extra for a HDS8, i have two on my boat and love them. If you don't want to spend the extra 1400.00 the HDS5 is a good combo and soon u can add the side scan if you want.

So are you just screwed on getting it repaired? If so, that seems kinda shitty!

I like the idea behind the HDS units but like was said...I want to wait on the bugs to be worked out. I've heard so many stories about people sending them back already!

I like the 27,28, and 38 units but now that they are "outdated" and hear Roddy say something about no repairs, it makes me leary!

For the type of fishing I do, I don' think the extra $$ for the si is really worth it...

    Re: New Graph (Alliston64)

We have sold a ton of the HDS units and no they are not 100% bullett proof, we have had a few with problems just like any other electronics that we have sold, all in all we have had real good luck out of the HDS UNITS. For the unmber of units we have sold i would not consider their product to be bad due to the number that was brought back.

Robbie, did they offer to let u upgrade from your 28 to a HDS7?

We are still working on that. Linda Colt was on vacation last week and I may even still be under warranty.
