    95 Johnson 175 Faststrike

I am doing a little troubleshooting and was wondering if someone might now how to check the power pack for proper voltage output. I suspect there might be a weak coil? My motor is only turning about 4800 rpms wide open. Im going to replace the plugs tomorrow and was wanting to check the coils also. Thanks for the help.

The plugs look good so the fuel and ign. should be good also unless you've got a fuel restriction, or air leak. You might want to check the carb linkage is going wot. Also had a timing disc on the top of the motor ,brass bushing, go bad and do weird things.

    Re: (jaybird1)

I looked at the throttle linkage again today. I opened it up wide open and i noticed that there is movement movement left in the butterflies. The throttle cam that contacts the round black cylinder doesn't appear to be able to open it up any more though. Its seems like the cam needs to be bigger or the round black thing needs to be thicker to open it up more. If you push the black cylinder open all the way it starts to close the butterfly in the opposite direction... not to mention the block actually stops it from moving.... What I gather from this is that it is opening all the way up.

This is what the throttle looks like wide open

This is what the throttle looks like when i push it the rest of the way open

This is the butterfly at WOT.

This is the butterfly after I push it the rest of the way open.

There is suppose to be a clear plastic sleeve over that black roller. It is missing. Get that and I bet your problems go away:)

Raise your motor also. I am running a 285 ProXL with 150 Johnson and 24 Raker set at 3 3/8" below pad. If I was you I would bring it up to 3.5" and fine tune it from there. Also think about sending your prop to Mark Croxton, you won't be sorry.

The throttle cam roller is missing. The pieces are in the cowling pan.

They used to come only in a 5 pack. Any dealer that ever ordered any should have them.
