Did you get your trim problem solved or are you in need of some help?
Did you get your trim problem solved or are you in need of some help?
I'm working on it... I am almost certain its the motor on the trim. I talked to Professional Marine and he wants me to bring it in to check it out first. If anyone has an idea let me know before I drop it off! Thanks
Sucks having a boat that needs attention like this.... then again its good not having a boat payment.![]()
I agree with Joe. Whats the symptoms? If your interested in getting your hands dirty![]()
Jeff I was in your position just before I joined the BBC. I actually found the BBC while trying to find out information about buying a boat. Finally got tired of fixing stuff before each trip and every time I hit wake random items would quit working.
No payment vs Payment
$230 a month is well worth the piece of mind it will run every time!!

It's getting power to the cylinder on top of the trim motor... you can hear it clicking, but nothing happens.
sounds like shes just froze up, have you let the hydraulics off of it manually to see if it goes down. If it will go down manually you may be able to get her going again, if not, probably need a new motor if its seized up that bad. Been there done that.....

Can you get to the motor on the unit to take it off? Could have bad seals and is froze up or you might be able to take it apart clean it and go from there.
Take a wrench and tap the trim motor about 1/3 the way down. This time of year especially you can get moisture on the coils and they will corrode very quick...sometimes this is just moisture from the temp changes and sometimes it is because there is a small leak letting water in the cap. Tapping it will sometimes get it started again. If this works you can have it cleaned and resealed...if it doesn't you may as well just go buy a new one.
P.S. If it does start working after you tap it...work it up and down for a few minutes to heat it up...this will help burn off the corrosion.

I can get to the motor but the hose attachments are on the bottom... It has been gradually leaking underneath where the hoses connect so it could have moisture in it.
We did bleed them at the ramp to get the motor down.... thanks again guys for the help and advice it is appreciated!![]()
well if you bled it down manually and it still didnt want to pick back up I'd say she is shot. You can try tapping it like dave said but it could pick back up and last two years or go back out in 3 hours. I'd grab a new one and find a buddy with a motor hoist, not too complicated at all and will save you about $200-$300

Jeff,
I had a problem with the trim on boat a month ago, it would trim up but not down. I could hear a clicking under the motor cover and found it to be a circuit breaker. Cost me $20 bucks to fix. I hope yours is this easy.

Jeff I had the same problem with an old boat of mine I ended up turning down the commutator putting new brushes in and new bearings. You can probably take yours to a starter and alternator rebuild shop and get it fixed for about 40 bucks

I have not done anything... my basketball team had games this weekend we are 5-1 going into the last 3 games of our regular season.
I do need to get it fixed, Feb. 3rd is coming fast and I want to fish that tournment. I would love to do it myself, but fear of screwin it up makes me want to have a mechanic look at it.
