I need a Mercury Lifting eye, to use for one evening while I install my jack plate... Anyone near Louisville have one that I can borrow or rent?

Sorry Brad I can't help but I was wondering, what jack plate did you get and where did you get it? Mark of Mark's props has me thinking (which is very hard work for me) that I should get one.![]()
I bought a Detwiler, direct from them. It was a good price, and I liked the Excat Dial, rather than a regular momentary switch... I ended up borrowing a hook from Guy Voyles (American Fiberglass), and installed it last night. I'd have to say that the plate was pretty easy to mount up, but the wiring was a pain to get from the rear of the boat through the gunnel and to the console... Going to take it out tonight, with a Tempest 25" and see what it'll do... I tried out the Tempest last weekend, and speed went from 61.5 to 66.8 compared to the old 25" Laser 2... I'm prayinfor 69 to 70 with the plate... Most people say that a jack plate is good for 3-5mph when properly set-up...
If ya decide to put one on your 520, just let me know, I'm usually free to help out in the evenings, and Brad (the other one) has a shop with an engine hoist that I'm sure he'll let us use...
Cool Brad and thanks for the offer!! I am undecided as of now but I may take you up if I decide to go with it. Let's us know how she runs!!![]()
Well, I went to the river Thursday night, and it was REAL rough! I think there will be an improvement, as I was fully tucked and still running right at 60! It was just too rough to try to trim it out and let her eat... Can't wait till i can get her out on some "better" water and open it up!!
Brad, when the big dog finally gets to eat....just let us know!![]()
John, I may soon have a 6" T&H for sale. I think I want to go with a 10" hydraulic, but I am still undecided.
No "Big Dog" here... Just a lil' pup!!! The 6" plate that Mike has will work just fine on your 520. I used to run one, and it ran 74 mph GPS with a 225 opti and a torn-up 25" tempest. That boat had a Hydraulic, but I'm not really sure that it had any (top-end) benefit over a manual. As soon as you bumped it up over an inch, the psi dropped too low. I usually just set it up about 3/4 inch and let it go...
Mike, I was thinking about an 8 inch but let me know....I could be convinced!
Brad, your still running good and once you get it dialed in perfectly it will be running real good!![]()
