j150plees. The outboard trims up fine, but when you start down it "jumps" until it gets to about half trim. What do you think is causing this, and is it gonna be a hard thing to fix. Time wise, is it a weekend job? j150plees.![]()

grease the pivot fittings, then tighten the tilt tube nut about one flat at a time until the jumping stops, it needs a bit of drag to work smoothly. You can stand on the anti-ventilation plate and ride the motor up and down and there will be no jerking.

ok, Thanks seahorse I will try that and see what happens. Do you think I need to bleed it again as well? Thank you for your reply!![]()
Ok, the tilt tube nut was not loose. I can trim the outboard down and hold slight upward pressure on the cavitation plate and the jumping stops. Could I possibly have a check valve sticking? Any further help and or advice would be appreciated. The outboard has hydraulic steering, if it matters... Also, the model# is j150plees.![]()

battery voltage is low.
hook it up to hot battery or connect battery charger and try it.
I cant get it any tighter than it already is, I am afraid of messing it up if I go any tighter.Brand new tilt/trim motor brand new battery and a full charge present. I am sure its not a voltage issue, but it was the first thing I checked.
