    TRILER WIRING QUESTION

I recently purchased a 2010 Nissan Xterra and am trying to figure out how to wire the trailer. I got the harness from Nissan and installed it with a seven pin connector on the back bumper. I also purchased a five to seven pin adapter on eBay and have everything I need, right?? Not so, I have a four pin connector on the trailer. My question is simple, what do I do now?? Do I rewire the trailer with a five pin connector (what purpose would that serve) or what is another alternative. I have not had the boat and trailer that long and wouldn't mind rewiring it anyway because it is kinda old but is there another easier alternative for the time being so I can wait until the winter to rewire the trailer?? I have not tried the lights and might need to do so before making and informed decision but from other discussions it seems if I use the four pin my running lights will not work.

Your 4-pin will plug in to the 5-pin just fine.

I have figured out the the four pin works fine on the five pin but I still have no running lights. I have used a test light and have figured out there is no juice for the running lights coming from the vehicle.

Just splice into you license plate lite or the tail lite on the vehicle with the pigtail from the vehicle that goes to the trailer.

If your license plate lite works or tail lite on the vehicle works then it will work on the trailer.

Don't know that vehicle, you might check to see if it has a fuse for the trailer.

I took it to the dealer and it does have a trailer fuse but it is present and they are going to figure it out and get back to me on Monday.
