Well after beeing very lucky for years my Chinese RWL 1 year old under 1000 miles Marathon let me down on my trip from home RI to Lake George Ny. just into NY from Mass i notices a small vibration. just htought it was the road. The prop on the TM was vibration alot from it. I ran another 40 miles and then had to slow for traffic and I had the vibraion at 35 mph. first thought was the wheels on my Durango. I had jsut takenof the 22" for the trip and put the facotry 20" with new tires less than 3000 miles ago.
I moved the mirror down to see the tire spining and to my horror a wobble/ hop and buldge. I pulled off immeadialty only to see about 16" of tread sunk into the tire a good 1" all the tread was deformed and i had a bulge in.
google Walmart and was one down the street less than a mile and of course had themin stock. They say they mount tires to 6 pm it was 3:50. I walk in the door and at 410 and they annoucnce no more mounting today so they could leave at 5 pm .They had 2 guys working and was jsut finishing a oil change . I didnt beg but they offered to do one more.
So $135 later I have another Goodyear Marathan "MADE IN CHINA" .Built 02-2011 so maybe they got the design fixed.
I had just checked the air pressure before I left and both tires where at 55 lbs cold. As they alwasy are. Temps were 87-90 and i had just drove on the Mass Pike 130 miles 65-75 mph except in traffic. I use to run 50 lbs but increased it once seeing the bulliten about driving over 65 mph and more adding 5 lbs more.
Good tread
