I just bought a new 2010 Silverado with trailering package and I am trying to get Battery +12V to the trailer plug. I added the 40A fuse in the underhood fuse box, but still no voltage at the back. When I bought my 2000 Tahoe, the trailering package came with a fuse and a harness that need to be used to get the +12 to the back. The siverado did not come with the harness and the salesman said that none of them do. Does anyone know if this truck needs the harness, or is something else wrong? all the rest of the trailer wiring seems to work fine.
After a lot of searching, I think I have the answer. It may help someone else. There is a red/black wire that is taped together undreneath the brake fluid holder. You need to untape it and connect it to the outside of the two connectors in front of the fuse box. That plus the 40A fuse should bring 12V to the trailer connector. I'll know for sure tomorrow.
Sure enough. The red wire connection, fuse, and voltage to the trailer socket.
Thanks,
