    Trailer Brake Issues

I posted awhile back about brakes that didn't seem to be working correctly. When tried to back up with the trailer on and the electric disconnected my brakes wouldn't engage (disc brakes should engage going up hill and reverse). I recently had to change the tires and got to looking at my brakes.

The first issue is the brakes always slightly rub on the rotor. Not enough to cause a lot of friction but you could feel the wheel not spinning freely by hand (maybe one full revolution with a good spin) and I could also see/hear the brake pad slightly rubbing the rotor. I didn't take the brakes off but there seemed to be quite a bit of pad left on them so I think they should be good still.

Next I went to the tongue of the trailer and compressed the tongue tightly with a winch to engage the brakes. I then went back to the wheel and could turn it with two hands but not one, so it was tight but not near tight enough for brakes I wouldn't think. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm thinking I will have to bleed the brakes but is there anything else I should try? Thanks for any suggestions.

It's normal for disc brakes to rub slightly all the time.

    I'd suggest bleeding the brakes.

Sounds like you need to re-bleed the brakes, make sure the master cylinder is below the bleed screws on the calipers, back the trailer up a slight incline, block the wheels and lower the actuator when you bleed. Regarding the calipers, the pads will rub slightly when the wheel is turning slowly, once you get rolling, the air from the vented rotors will keep the pads away from the rotors, so slight rubbing when going slow is normal.
