POWER TRIM QUESTION

Hi all,
I had a tournament today and 2 hours into the day my power trim started having issues. I have a 1995 Evinrude 90HP outboard on my bassboat. The motor would not trim down, but would trim up. I've had this engine for 10 years and this is the first issue I've eever had with the power trim. ( Actually have had no issues at all with this engine.) Someone told me if could be a trim relay. Can anyone give me any insite on this, what to check and if its something I can replace myself?

Yep you can replace it your self. Not sure which 90 you have but look at the back of the motor. Between the heads you will see a black rectangular box that has screws on either side. Remove the screws and then the cover your relays are inside that box. They look like a black Ice cube with spade connectors on them. They are a plug in style so all you have to do is pull one out and swap it with the other side. If that is not your style 90 then they may be on top of the #2 carb on the front of the motor. Same principle. Swap them.

My black box was located at the back. I replaced the bad relay this morning. I picked up an extra as a spare as well. Its working correctly now. Thanks so much!

Put the new spare relay in the other socket and keep the used good one as a spare.
