Howdy. I've been trailering my (new to me; just bought in early March) 1997 tandem axle (Astro) boat/trailer rig now for all of 2 and a third months and I've already replaced bearings and brakes (front axle) and I'm getting what was a fairly neglected trailer into much better shape than it was in before.
What I'm wondering about now is whether there is a right/wrong way to lubricate certain points on the trailer's wheels (not the inner parts/bearings/seals---I've completely redone those including new bearing buddies)... but rather the springs perhaps, or anything else that might be a source of excessive creaks and groans.
I have no reference point, of course, to what might be considered 'excessive creaks and groans', so perhaps I should just flat out ask: How and where should I regularly provide lubrication to the trailer to keep it in best condition, and how frequently might I want to do this? Again, forget the wheels themselves---I have those all figured out; believe me. I'm talking about the trailer/axles/springs and lubing thereof. Thank you!
