Got a '94 Skeeter that I blew out the rear bearing on the rear axel this weekend coming home from the Federation tournament. The spindle is pretty well gouged up.
Has anyone had any experiance with changing one out or is this new axel time?

If its a single axle trailer you might want to remove the axle and take it to a shop to have the spindle replaced. Its not a very difficult job to remove the axle.

It's pretty hard to just"weld on a spindle" without having camber problems. You might consider getting a new axle with disc brakes. Not too many Trailer builders are using drum brakes anymore.
Been thinking about that as well. Do you happen to know what the capacity would have to be and approximate cost?
I encountered the same problem last month. I was told any scratch on your spindle that you can feel with your fingernail will cause premature bearing wear. Any material removed will also cause premature bearing failure as the tolerances are so tight for the bearings. I ended up replacing the axle with one from championtrailers. $275 for peace of mind. If one went bad the other side is gonna go soon. Your trailer should also have a weight rating on the tag where the ID number is.
