Trailer Bunk Replacement - Marine Masters Trailer

I'm looking to replace the bunks on my 2003 TR 186 trailer, manufactured by Marine Masters. I was wondering if the type of lumber used really matters? I was thinking of getting pressure treated 2" x 6", or would regular 2" x 6" do the job? Anyone out there ever replace these type of bunks? Thanks.

Yes, it matters! Those bunks stay wet with the carpet for hours, and they support your boat. Do you really want to skimp on quality?

Re: Trailer Bunk Replacement - Marine Masters Trailer (Tritonbmc)

I replaced mine last fall with a couple good quality 2x4's from home depot. But I also encapsulated them in a fiberglass resin. I brushed a couple coats of the resin on and I now hope to never do a replacement job on the trailer again!! A little extra time and a couple extra $$$ and I think they will last considerably longer.
