Guys what do you think about just taking trailer breaks off my trailer? I have a procraft pro 185. I didn't expect to be checking on my breaks in 07 considering it is only a 05 model. Well when I pulled my wheels off getting ready for this season at least one set of breaks is toast. I am either going to have to stop using the breaks or completely replace the hub assembly. They seem to run from 150-200 a piece. I would like to get your thought on the situation.
They are required by law in many states, and by common sense everywhere. If somebody pulled out in front of you and you hit them, even if it was their fault, a lawyer would eat you for lunch if they found out you had removed the brakes.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
I would not remove the brakes, fix them. It may be illegal to do so depending on the state you live in and the weight of the boat. The day you need them because some idiot pulls in front of you and you need to stop quick you will regret removing the brakes and it could cost you more.
