We finally got the problem resolved for the rpm problem I was having with my 2003 Evinrude Ficht. The service tech from Bombardier came and did the troubleshooting. What he did to solve the problem was to update the controller software, and adjust the timing which was off by some 7 degrees. We now have 5550 rpms at WOT and full trim. We got 5 mph back, so things are good again. Once the weather cools off I would expect to get a couple hundred more rpms and a few more mph.
I also had them check the throttle plates to make sure they were opening all the way and the crank position sensor for the .o45 as you suggested. They both checked out okay.
Thanks for your help. I just wanted to let you know what the problem was and what we did to resolve it.
