Starter parts for 03 Evinrude 200 HO

I seem to be having an issue with the starter grinding. I have to bump the start button once or twice before it will catch and turn the motor over. I would assume its the bendix or just needs a bit of lube but either way i need to look at it. I have checked on the parts and I can only purchase the kit drive and shaft for 140.00. Does anyone know if there is an older listing of the parts so I can buy the pieces seperately? Thanks and any advice on fixing this thing would be great. Thanks for the help. G

It could be the bendix just has a buildup of grime on it. I usually clean it with WD40 try it to see if it works and if it does then apply some light oil like 3 in 1 or hot sauce reel oil.

Contact an alternator-starter repair shop. Many work on small starters and can get some parts, depending on the style. Often a replacement starter is a Chinese knock-off of the Bosch version and no parts can be had.

I just took it apart, cleaned and lubed it and it seems to be working for now. I am going to pick up a new one just to be safe. Anyone have a suggestion on which unit to buy? Stay OEM? aftermarket? Thank you for your help.

I try to do the same as often as I can. When money is low, I purchase what I can afford. Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Grant
