Water Ejection Port Johnson 150 FastStrike

Am I correct in that this model does not eject a visible stream of water from the Water Pump above Water Level> If all ejection of water is below water level, that is sort of uncomfortable meaning you have keep your eyes on water temp indicators on instrument panel!

I know that is a real Newbie type question but every other motor I have run or been with someone in their boat, you could see the water stream thus knowing the water pump was working.

Sorry for a crazy question but guages don't alway work and I just wanted to know if this model does eject water out out sight.

    Thanks folks!

There shopuld be what is called a pisser on the back of the motor right below the cowl. It will be black, and have a small hole in the end. It could be stopped up. Just unscrew the nut off of it, take it out, and blow through it. THEN, if no water still comes out, You will likely need a water pump. Do you have water pressure? I wouldnt run it until you figure out what is going on.

Re: Water Ejection Port Johnson 150 FastStrike (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

Oh man, thanks so much doc as I was just in from running the muff on it again. I really had not figured out what that fitting was and of course I have had no indication of water trying to exit there but I will surely go back there and try to clean it up. So far, the only water pressure on the system has been the water hose connected to the muffs and I don't know if that would be enough to get to the pisser. I have not tried to crank the engine as yet for I have to change the Lower Unit Lube as I have no idea when it was changed last.

I can't seem to find and operators manual on this Motor and unless I am missing something, I can't find anything to download on the Johnson site that dates back to 98.

Anyway, big time appreciate you help my friend!

You are not going to see water from the pisser until the engine is running.
