    Does with twins?

I have numerous pics this year of mommas with single babies on my lease in southern middle Tennessee but haven't seen any twins as of yet. Got out a few days ago and drove the back roads of bean fields and cattle pastures looking for deer and all the doe fawn combos I seen were mothers with single babies. I was just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing. We have had good food, and good rain the last few years around here but it been very hot the last 2 summers. I just can't figure out the reason as to why they are only having singles...

Could it have something to do with the bucks you have on the property? I don't know if this effects having twins or not, but maybe the bucks you shot the last few years played a key role in producing the twins and new ones can't.

Most first time does will have single fawn, then have twins after that all depending if they are in good shape prior to breeding and during gestation, and have a good food source.

Really the only bucks we've killed the last three years have been 2.5 and 3.5 year olds. Didn't see many does at all last year while hunting but seen several sets of twins when we did see them. What strikes me as odd is that its all over the place around here in north Bama and southern Tenn on places I have and places that friends have where only singles have been seen. Maybe the older does just haven't had theirs yet or I could have a bigger coyote problem than I thought...

Keep in mind too that because they only have a single fawn doesn't mean they didn't have twins, but a very stressful, hot summer can cause alot of fawn mortality, or spontaneous abortion if one or more fawns by the mother.

And just an FYI, studies show that the majority of twin or triplet births in the wild have different fathers.
