    Need Help ETEC Charging.

    mod e225dplso
    ser 05101615

I was out on the water yesterday and my engine quit on me and wouldnt start back up for a few min like it was not getting gas. It eventually started and ran fine for the rest of the time. Then I noticed that my battery guage was not showing that the engine was charging. I broke out the Multimeter and went to the battery and checked there up to about 2500 rpms and sure enough the voltage stayed the same. I am supposed to be leaving to go out of town tomorrow for a tourney. anyone know what could have made this happen.

I have swapped batteries and checked all of the connections to the battery.

It sounds like it is not charging if the battery voltage stays at 12.6 or lower. First check the battery condition, connections, cables, etc.

Do you have multiple batteries or just one?

The charging system is controlled by the EMM and it gets its voltage input from the stator under the flywheel. Normally if there is a voltage problem internally, the EMM will give a CHECK ENGINE light and store either code 26 or 27.

Seahorse thanks for the quick reply. I have changed the battery and checked all of the connection at the battery and at the motor I could trace back. yes the voltage is at 12.6 volts until I crank engine then it drops to about 12.4 and does not raise from there through the RPM range. I have looked at the lights on the EMM and the Charging "OK" Light is on while the key is in the ON position and goes out after I start the engine. I am trying to find a tech that can get to me today to put it on a computer. Just trying to see if there is anything I can do in the meantime. Thanks again
