I'm thinking of trying to build a muzzleloader and was wondering if anyone can give info on a good book or web site

Ever read Patrick McManus? He has a good story about this called "Poof, No Eyebrows."

I tried but found out quick I don't have the patience for it. Or the right tools. I don't know what you want to build, but I have a 50cal green mountain barrel that needs finishing. I would sell it cheap. It would probably need cut and rethread for a different breech plug.
There's a lot of info on the www so just do a lot of research.
I have one that I built with my dad when I was 16 , 41 now still hunt with it great memeories we did the whole 9 yards buck skin poosibles bag. We browned it instead of blueing that it is what the mountian men did. He has a macthing pistol to it.![]()
yeah i read that... he aint right... i have several of his books... there all good![]()
I " assembled" a Thompson Center Hawken in 1980. Still hunt with it and it has killed every deer it has ever been shot at. Did all the radiuses with round files wrapped with sandpaper, browned the barrel, about 30 coats of TruOil wet sanded between each coat with 600 grit wet or dry paper. Used a torch and put a suigi finish on the ramrod. Many many hours but really happy with how it came out. Not hard, just lots of elbow grease
