    Champion 7712 Spark Plugs

I went to change the plugs in my 1997 ficht 150. Was running fine just wanted to change for the season. When I took them out 2 of them had part of the porcelain of the spark plug gone at the electrode. One as much as a 3/16" from the electrode tip. It didn't look like it had melted away. It looked like it had cracked away. Has anyone seen this before?

Re: Champion 7712 Spark Plugs (xrd comp)

Usually broken porcelain is from dropping or hitting the plug at some time where the minute crack finally breaks. In some cases, detonation can do that but there may be other signs of detonation inside the combustion chamber and on the piston.

By the way, the QC12PEP plugs seem to last longer in the '97 and '98 FICHTS that have the original heads, not the updated pinned heads.

The color of the electrode on the the plugs looked the same as the others.
Dark brown. I looked at the piston tops on all 6 cylinders and all looked the same.

I will put the new set of plugs in and give them a check after the next trip out.

    Thanks for the response
