    micro guides

i found out this weekend that micro guides are useless when the temps are below freezing. i couldn't get the jig back to the boat b4 they froze solid and i wasn't able to reel anymore. i switched to a rod with regular guides and had to pick ice out of the guides every other cast or so but could fish. they never froze solid.

I don't know how cold it is where you are but if it is going to be cold enough for that to happen here I have found that spraying your guides heavily w/ Reel Magic or the like before you make your first cast will most often help stop the icing. Not a foolproof way but it does help a little.

Cottonwood seeds and junk like that are also too much for them.

try rubbing a crayon in the guide, the wax keeps ice from forming

I guess I am old school. I do not own micro guides and have no plans to change that.
