How many volts should two 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries wired in parallel show when fully charged? I don't have a volt meter of any kind, I just have to go by the voltage showing on my fish finder. Thanks![]()

In parallel they will only show 12.6-13. Wired in series they will show near 25-26.

If you do not have a volt meter, it would be something you should get. It doesn't have to be a real expensive one. Radio Shack and the home stores all sell reasonably priced meters that will do all you need. They come in handy around the house.

Seconded. The reading on your electronics will almost always be wrong.
I've read that a fully discharged 12 volt batt is down to 11.5 - 11.8 volts. If that is fully discharged, what happens to the remaining voltage? Sorry I'm so ignorant on this.

That would be 100% discarged of it functionally usable voltage. Discharging any farther than this destroys the core of the battery and it ability to be recharged and hold a charge.

I pulled both batts out today and took them to auto parts store and had them checked. One showed 12.93 volts, the other showed 12.89. However both of them showed more CCA than the batteries are rated for. I didn't realize it until I got home and started looking at the test printouts. Did the guy at the store do something wrong you think?
I would say it is correct. We have a charger where I work that regularly shows a battery with a higher CCA reading than the label on the battery. I have seen numerous 800 cca batteries show around 1050cca.

I've posted this many times and no one will pin it for some reason. :/

Yeah, I found this too while surfing the net. A lot of useful info in this article. Thanks.

Some batteries have higher or lower open cell voltages for full charge. Most conventional wet cells are fully charged at 12.65V. Trojan batteries are fully charged at 12.73V and AGMs are typically fully charged around 12.8V or even up to 13V, so the chart needs to be brand and technology specific.
12.65V may be only 75% charged for some batteries, while it is 100% charged for others.
