    chine walk

I just bought a 1989 20 v bullet with a 200 johnson venum, the problem is that it seems real light in the front and when it hits around 4000 to 4500 rpms it starts walking. So I was wondering if I just needed more seat time or what. Its got a 27 renagade prop. But any info. is needed thanks.

    Welcome to the BBC Chris!

Sounds like you just need more seat time (and ideally if someone that's experienced could go out with you for an hour or two that would help big time).
Running with a fairly full fuel tank and water in the livewells would also help; it's harder to learn with a light boat. Assuming there are two livewells you might want to fill the port livewell to help balance the boat. Also see how it is with you in the boat just sitting.....is it fairly level? If not, you might want to move some stuff to the port side to level it out a bit while you're learning.

    Welcome !

Mine gets squirrely sometime too. I've come to realize that excessive trim doesn't really make it go faster. I can see the bow drop just a little bit when at full trim I bump it down just a bit. This helps with the chine walking.

I'm practicing the left bump, bump, bump like hacking a tree with a pocket knife

Here is a good example of chine walk and even though they don't explain it too well on how to get it under control you can see with some small steering input they can get the boat stable again. Music is good too...
