Should I take this free boat?

My father in law is giving me a 1989 Bass Tracker III that has been left outside for awhile...I know I need to replace the seats, carpet, floors etc. but I am not sure what else. Is it going to be worth it? The inside looks a mess.....It has a 40hp motor not sure how it is though.

Free is a good thing. Might make a good project boat.

If the motor works, you could be up and running pretty quick!!!!!

Never turn down a free boat. Especially with a running motor and it being aluminum.

It's free take it. Fix it up and resell it for more than what you put in it.

i bought an 81 procraft that had sat outside for many years from my uncle about 6 years ago. i put about $1500 in it including floor, carpet, seats, batteries, engine tune up. that thing ran great until somebody hit me at a stop light.

You dont got nothing to lose. With a old boat like that you can really customize it to make it better than it ever was.

My carpentry teacher in high school was traded a little Bayliner runabout in exchange for some work he did for someone. He coverted it to a fishing boat.

If you dont want it .. I'll take it for FREE! .. ITS FREE man what are you waiting for .. thats the easiest restore project boat and man can do.
floors and other wood on alum boats are usually bare pressure treated wood , with carpet glued to them, the seats if they have wood components and the vinyl is good, you could remake the seat panels from pressure treated plywood .. or just go by new seats.

    again ITS FREE

Definately take it, inside should be all plywood. Pretty easy refurb. you can carpet before you install the decks and floor. when you get the current plywood off you may want to take the foam out. it may be wet. get some that won't get waterlogged. I wish i could find one like that here to saltwater fish in. I had one with a 75 around that time and it was a great boat. also while you have it apart, check for leaks and take care of them before you start.
