    Bad coil

OK, a few weeks ago I wrote thinking that I had carb or fuel supply issues, however after replacing switching unit, hose barbs, etc. the problem continued. I am having a difficult time getting on plane and can only run 5000rpm WOT. I guess you will call it a clue when you hit the choke while running and that doesn't correct the problem. Anyway, I found no spark on #3 coil at the plug and when I started the engine at night, I had a nice spark all around that coil. I would assume that a new coil is going to fix my problem. (Ordered last night). My question, if that does not fix my problem where do I look from here?

    Thanks,
    Troy

    Re: Bad coil (Crosbyman)

Pessimistic? I call myself a planner...My boat is parked at my lakehouse 100 miles from home, so I like to have my ducks in a row when I get there and have an idea of what to look for if this doesn't work. But thanks for your concern!!!

Timer base would be next. Coil should do it.
