    First Day with Hummingbird SI

    Guys,

Here are a few shots day one with my HB 898. These units are amazing. Even though my main focus was breaking in the engine I could not resist making a few passes over structure. The first two pics are of a bridge with quite a bit of bait and schooling fish.

Question? What are some of the possible reasons for the horizontal lines that are showing up in the snapshots? Loose connection, lack of clear line-of-sight, vibration from the motor, electrical interfernce.......? BTW the transducer is mounted on the jackplate.

Here is a snapshot of a creek mouth. Any advice on settings to clear up the images? Thanks in advance! This forum is great and is one of the main reasons I chose HB.

Doug or TMike will pipe in shortly and there advice is priceless.

Clarity - Sensity and contrast will work everytime

Horizontal lines - Is it hooked up directly to the battery? If not, could be any electrical that you push, gas, tilt trim, gauges, aerators, pumpouts.

just my .02. I always hook my console unit directly to the battery so I am insured that I do not get any interferance and if I do, then my battery is going bad.

    Re: (SkeeterDon)

The Vertical lines are either water turbulence or interference from transducer location. Try lowering the transducer to resolve.

Re: First Day with Hummingbird SI (Nola)

looks like your screen captures are at a fairly low resolution which is why you see pixelation in the text and images. Try sampling the JPG at a higher pixel ratio per inch number (dpi).

Mike & Doug will give you the info on setting the unit....
