Learning a lot about my 1197 from doug and some help from the Side Imaging forum. Learning how to host videos, edit pictures and videos, create waypoints...this stuff is endless with all the things you can do. here is one of my first pics. ive always heard there was a bridge there..

they both came out of a video recording. i used HumViewer to make a small movie of my scanning and i also captured a few screenshots, ie; i played with the contrast and enhancing

Beautiful pics. I have a question. In the downscan image, why does it look like there is a floating limb in the picture? In the sidescan, the "limb" looks like it is laying on the bottom. I am slightly confused now. I thougth I was just beginning to understand these images. Please help.

I'll try this one to see if I'm learning. I would say that limb is suspended. In the sidescan image, it's in the "water column" part, not the "side scan" part. You're still looking down at it, not to the side at it.

Thank you sir Ive spent a boatload hours studying and I'm still no where close. I have about five videos I've made off of humviewer if anyone wants to view them. I can email them. They are not perfect as I'm still learning but I can it really helps to scan something when u know what it is and how it's laying and then U see how the graph interprets it. I'm a MOD here on the boards so I'm not taking anything away from BBC(it's my home) but the humminbird side imaging forum is one knowledgeable site with great people. Some of these guys write the programs that view our pictures/recordings. It's a great place

That limb looks pretty large to be suspended. Wouldn't a limb of that size sink to the bottom or float somewhere near the surface?

my initial thought is that, obviously this bridge is sitting on the channel or the cold creek. which is usually a downward slope. best i can tell after watching videos is that the tree is actually on the down slope, going into the channel, its lying on the bottom

Like stated earlier, it"s in the water column in SI, so it is indeed suspended.

In the Di view, its suspended also, but with DI, you will be able to see some left and right, but we dont really know where DI is looking/showing without verifying it with the SI view.

Could be a "new" deadfall, that is neutral in bouyancy right now.

Otherwise, I cant explain it either.

now that i think about it guys, i took this photo last week. we got hit with a lot of rain and there were floating logs everywhere as the lake was up 5ft over night, putting it 3ft above summer pool. it makes perfect since that this tread could have been suspended. i appreciate you guys pointing that out....

doug, what hints would you give me on cleaning up this image on my unit? is it the sensitivity, contrast?

What's the scroll speed? I would slow down the scroll speed and set Si Enhance to Low Sensitivity to 8-12 and contrast to 10 to start with.

Scroll Speed is probably the greatest factor in producing clear images. I recommend playing with the Scroll Speed and go back and forth over the same structure and see the results and it will help you learn how to use it to help you get the data you need.
