A couple of years ago, installed a new 2008 ETEC 225 HO on a 1994 Javelin 409 DC. After a season of trouble-free use, engine heat sensor alarm sounds very often while at speed, stops sounding immediately when down off plane. Evinrude mechanic confirms that engine heated numerous time above the normal range, says that problem might be (1) engine mounted too high on transom or (2) through hull transduce protrudes about a quarter inch or less below bottom of boat, about two or three feet forward of end of boat bottom.
Any info on history of heating problems with these engines or the validity of the two possible problem cited by mechanic would be appreciated.
